Preparing for my Nia class this morning, one of the "random" things I sometimes do is do a "mindless activity" for fun while listening to my playlist for class. The task could be clear out a kitchen draw, fold towels, sort socks or go run. This morning I chose to watch video clips on facebook while listening to the tunes, in the background.
In Nia we have a thing called "accidental clicks" = the right fit "by accident". As I was watching this amazing World Champion horse vaulter clip (thank you Kathy Davidson), while listening to Nungabunda by Ganga Girl, from the Nia Routine Opal, there were some amazing clicks.
The horse was in step with the beat of the music, the acrobat flows with the string melody in the song, and makes changes on the "1" (the top accent of each of the bars in the music) and she did some "feature moves" as a new section in the music began. The music appeared to be the PERFECT MATCH for the performance.
Although it's highly unlikely I'll be doing flips in my Nia class, I'm flipping out about these magical, "in the moment" clicks, my relationship with the music has deepened, my fascination is up and I can't wait to teach. I LOVE MY J O B :-)
FYI if you want to play with this yourself be sure to MUTE the video your watching ;-)
You can find the track on Apple Music, my guess is it’s also on Spotify and it’s also on YouTube.
Play with any vibrant “get moving” song and see if you can find your own delightful accidental clicks.
