This property is awesome. Clean, pretty, and very accommodating. We booked this house for 6 guests for my mother's 60th birthday. Everything came together making for a very special weekend retreat. We booked spa treatments at the Deer Lake Lodge Resort & Spa and spent our evenings on the back porch of Soma ranch sitting in the hot tub and lounging in the pool. My one year old daughter absolutely loved being able to pet the horses and donkeys and also enjoyed visiting with the geese. This was a wonderful weekend. Everything was perfect. —Haley

My arrival at soma ranch was met by Joe and Phelps who gave me the grand tour and an abundance of Texas hospitality. To say that this was a retreat fit for a rock star is an understatement. Soma ranch is a jewel of a place with all the peace, amenities and conveniences that anyone could possibly desire. I missed Helen as she was out of town but hope to meet her on my next stay. It was the perfect place to rest and recharge. The ranch is a wonderful country setting but it is close to shopping, antique merchants, and great dining. Soma Ranch was truly a memorable stay. I was immediately welcomed and felt right at home upon arrival. Helen offered a meal and showed me around the property so I could find my way around. It was a short stay but very relaxing. Our stay at Soma was excellent. Helen and Joe are very generous hosts and we were fortunate enough to have the ranch to ourselves. Lots of time in the pool and hot tub, gorgeous sunsets and a well stocked kitchen made life very easy. Will definitely be going back if we get the chance. Highly recommended. —Beth

This place is a hidden gem! Everything was lovely and the attention to detail was superb - firewood stacked, fully stocked kitchen, clean towels, you name it. It had a homey feel for my crew and was exactly what I was hoping for. We'll definitely be back! —Stephanie

The ranch of Helen and Joe was in one word mesmerizing. It is located within an hour of Houston airport, but is and feels completely off grid Texas, and has a beautiful scenery to go with it. Helen and Joe were very communicative and nice persons and assisted us where required. We even fed the animals (several horses and donkeys) with them. During out stay they stayed elsewhere, so we had the whole ranch to ourselves. The ranch itself was very neat and clean, with lots op open spaces, comfortable beds and complete kitchen. The pool and jacuzzi are really cool. The ranch is located at the end of a farm road and totally secluded for a full Texas experience. A stay here is very recommended and we only would wish we could have stayed longer! —Koen
