Here’s a little taste of behind the scenes preparation to teach a special class at 10am this coming Monday. (IN PERSON, ONLINE, 24HR REPLAY)
My dear friend Kinga Brezina often shares the phrase "the secret life of a Nia teacher". This morning I giggled; After waking up at 4am thinking of my upcoming class, I leaped up, grabbed pen and paper, and "downloaded" the music I'd been listening to.
I love how writing down what I hear in the music gives me a visual map from which to hang, organize and create my movements for class. I also love how I no longer stress when I wake up in the middle of the night LOL....
This music is Heart Land by Tim Wheater. There are 4 tracks (called movements), the first song is a whopping 25 minutes long and the choral/orchestral vibes rarely fit into a normal count/bar system.
I was originally introduced to this music with the Nia routine SOUNDING, choreographed by Debbie Rosas.
I'm curious:
does anyone else wake up with the inspiration to jump out of bed and prepare for class?
does anyone else no longer stress about waking up in the middle of the night? (when there is something creative to be done!)

Here's the recent class I taught in preparation for teaching the WHOLE experience (it's the first song of Sounding, followed by a selection of tunes from R1)
