Ode to Phelps

Thank you Kitt Taylor for the lovely “Ode to Phelps”. A precious, comforting and most wonderful personalized poem about our special Soma Ranch dog Phelps (may he R.I.P.). We read this poem at the end of our Nia class today and the community both in person and online were deeply touched.

“Our” dog on the ranch adored a grand life on pastures green.
It was a Nia ranch with abundant joy, of which he was keen.

He was named for a man who swam with speed.
And, like his namesake, he was successful indeed.

Wet noses, sloppy kisses, and wagging tail.
Kept Liliana delighted like fairytales.

He frolicked about on happy, sunlit days.
He loved to play among the donkeys’ brays.

He followed his heart to love and to greet
All who came to dance and meet.

He so graciously escorted from car to class.
His help and support were hard to surpass.

He created fond recollections in many hearts,
While Joe was in the kitchen creating culinary art.

He served as a friendly presence as he quietly lay
While Helen and friends danced The Body’s Way.

Precious moments of many good times
Made his long life so very sublime.

So sing for Phelps a rhapsody of praise
To be remembered as a GOOD DOG always
